When a devastating tornado rips across rural Kentucky in the middle of the day, 21-year-old postal worker Missy Prater is forced off her route and into the home of a stranger. Already weighed down by a fractured family and a traumatic past, Missy expects only to wait out the storm. Instead, she finds herself trapped in a house where secrets fester and tensions spiral.

World & Setting

The Storm Outside
Kentucky’s weather is unpredictable, violent, and unforgiving. Tornado sirens, dark skies splitting open in midday, and winds that tear through fields and forests create an atmosphere of constant unease. Nature itself becomes a predator — the storm is both literal and metaphorical, mirroring Missy’s inner turmoil.

The Farmhouse
Isolated, creaking with history, and seemingly frozen in time, the farmhouse is a character in its own right. Every room feels alive with memory,  peeling wallpaper, doors that stick, photographs with faces turned away. It offers both refuge and entrapment, a place where the past lingers in the walls. The house is a Southern Gothic labyrinth where Missy must navigate not just physical danger, but the psychic weight of secrets buried long ago.
